Current Project

The Friends of the Texas Room is developing a comprehensive documentary to be shown on public television about the Houston Metropolitan Research Center. It will emphasize the scope and depth of the collections and the many purposes for which they are used.

Researchers, including architects, businesspersons, lawyers, city planners, preservationists, students, and historians will be featured talking about how they have used the collections in their work. The history and architectural beauty of the Julia Ideson Building, which houses the HMRC, also will be emphasized.

Friends member James R. Bailey, owner of Sunset Productions, is the producer. Mr. Bailey has produced many outstanding television documentaries including the series "The Golden Age of Texas Courthouses."
